Clean Air and Reliable Transit

Chicagoland annually ranks among the worst air qualities in the U.S. and a large part of that is due to transportation. This is personal for Che-Che, having grown up next to the Lincoln Park Steel Mill and right off the highway, exposure which continues to affect his health and asthma to this day. Che-Che supports infrastructure that speeds up safe and reliable public transportation.

  • Under the new Northern Illinois Transit Authority (NITA) Act, the Cook County Commissioner for the 12th District will participate in 8 Board Member appointments across CTA, Pace, and Metra for the first time ever. Che-Che promises to support qualified candidates with directly applicable experience, not just someone who is politically well-connected.

  • Expand Cook County Forest Preserves into the City. A majority of Chicago residents cannot access the Cook County Forest Preserves without driving or spending a significant amount of time on public transit. It is time to start expanding land dedicated to the Forest Preserves in Chicago.

  • Advance pedestrian-friendly and public transit improvements to ease traffic congestion and reduce emissions.

Quick and substantial transportation is critical for growing Cook County and protecting our quality of life. It is necessary to expand access to work and school, reduces the amount of time we spend in traffic, and produces significantly more financial gain than costs. Our communities and kids deserve a healthier future, and transportation is key to getting there.
